Growing strength in the ecumenical community, in order to serve the people of Great
Yarmouth borough in the most effective way, is a priority. Monthly meetings of
Churches in the Community provides a forum for mutual support, idea sharing and
fellowship. The meetings are hosted by Churches across the borough from the
northern villages to the Suffolk border and include rural and urban communities.
The role of Together Norfolk and its staff is to enable Churches to enrich and
empower their local communities. In Great Yarmouth we have an emphasis on
tackling poverty and those things which lead to it. We work with foodbanks,
community larders, community pantries and other Church lead community projects.
We look strategically at ways of combatting poverty whilst providing sustainable
solutions which enable people to escape the web of poverty, restore their dignity and
reclaim their wellbeing.
